Message From Kennedey!

To say that today was an awesome day is an understatement! I truly saw how fast and mysterious God works and I am grateful for this day that the Lord has made. For the majority of the day my group stayed at the Connection Café in Santiago. At this site we engaged in conversation with the locals and helped them practice their English. The five young adults that we met today truly touched my heart and gave me a clear vision of how God works through others so that you can feel his presence in an amazing way. The highlight of my day was when I conversed with a young man from Haiti. As soon as he walked in the room and greeted us I could immediately sense his gentle and innocent spirit. We learned that he is currently a college student studying to become a civil engineer. The moment when I truly connected with him was when I asked him what his favorite book was; he said it was the bible and his eyes immediately lit up. He asked me if I had my bible with me because he had never seen one written in English. As soon as I gave it to him he began to flip through pages, familiarizing himself with the foreign sounding book titles. He then found a passage in Songs of Solomon and asked us to read it to him. This passage connected to me so well that I was on the verge of tears. I looked at his face and the joy that came over him was undoubtedly the love that God wants us to see and feel from him. I decided to give my bible to this young man and he was very grateful for it! Later that evening we attended a church service. My favorite part of the service was watching the praise team and praying with others in small groups. Although I couldn’t understand everything that was going on I felt a strong connection with the congregation. I am more than thankful for this day and I pray that God will continue to touch the lives of those individuals that we met today. Learning to serve God in new ways is exciting and I hope that I can take these methods of service home and touch the lives of many more.
